自分自身にしっかりと投資できていますでしょうか。
お金を増やすために、運用益を狙って株式などに投資することも大事なことですが、それ以上に大切なことは、自分の成長のために自分自身に投資をすることではないでしょうか。
自分の学びや経験のために時間やお金を使うことが自分への投資ということになりますが、最も大切なことは生涯学び続けることだと思っています。
学校を卒業した後に入った会社で仕事を学べば、定年まで働けて一生食べるのに困らなかった時代もありましたが、今は、テクノロジーや時代の変化が早く、常に自分の知識やスキルを磨き続けないと生き残っていけない時代となりました。
私自身は、学校での勉強には興味が持てず、大学の授業も講堂の一番後ろで寝ているようなダメ大学生の典型でしたが、新卒で入ったのが外資系の会社だったことで、常に自分のスキルを磨き続けないと生き残っていけない世界だと早いうちに悟りました。
私の場合は、英語を武器にすると決めて、大学を卒業した時は550点しかなかったTOEICのスコアが、社会人になってからもずっと英語の勉強を続け、TOEICも満点に近いスコアを取ることができました。社会人になってからの勉強で良いことは、一つには時間をかけてコツコツとスキルや知識、経験を蓄えていけること。学生時代と違い、10年でも、20年でも、私の場合は30年にわたり勉強を続けてこれました。この時間という資産は投資をする上で最も大きな武器になるのは間違いありません。
社会人になってからの勉強のもう一つの利点は、勉強をしたことを仕事や社会生活に生かしやすいということが挙げられます。勉強をしたことを仕事で使い、給料をもらいながら勉強もできるというポジティブなサイクルになるとモチベーションも続きやすくなります。
生涯学習という言葉を聞くようになりだいぶ長い時間が経っていますが、学ぶことを楽しむこと、そして楽しむためには、好きなことを学ぶこと、そして、ゆっくりでもいいし、途中で立ち止まってもいいので、長い時間をかけて学んでいく姿勢がとても大切だと思うこの頃です。

There was a time when if you learned your trade at the company you joined after finishing school, you could work until retirement and have enough to eat for the rest of your life, but today, technology and the times are changing so quickly that you need to constantly improve your knowledge and skills to survive.
I myself was a typical bad college student who had no interest in studying at school and slept in the back of the auditorium in university classes. However, when I entered a foreign-affiliated company as a new graduate, I realized early on that it was a world where you could not survive unless you constantly improved your skills.
In my case, I decided to use English as a weapon, and my TOEIC score was only 550 when I graduated from university, but I continued to study English throughout my working life and was able to get a near perfect TOEIC score.
One good thing about studying after becoming a working adult is that you can steadily accumulate skills, knowledge, and experience over time.
Unlike when I was a student, I was able to continue my studies for 10, even 20, or in my case, 30 years. This asset of time is without a doubt the most important weapon for investment.
Another advantage of studying after you have entered the workforce is that you can easily apply what you have studied to your work and social life. It is easier to stay motivated when you can use what you have studied at work, and in a positive cycle of earning a salary and studying at the same time.
It has been a long time since we started hearing the term “lifelong learning,” but I think it is very important these days to enjoy learning, and in order to enjoy learning, to learn what you like, and to have an attitude of learning over a long period of time, even if slowly or stopping in the middle.
