東洋経済オンラインの、”東大に｢推薦で合格した人｣の思考法が凄すぎた”の記事に共感する部分があったので、そのエッセンスを紹介してみたいと思います。
東大に推薦で合格するくらいの人は、テストでいい点を取れるだけでなくて、地頭が良くなければならない。ここでいう地頭が良いとは、つまり、どんな課題や与えられたトピックに関して、自分の考えや解決策、提案を提示できること。
そして、そのためには、常に思考力を鍛えることが大切になってくるとのことです。
それでは、思考力を鍛えるためにはどのようなトレーニングが有効でしょうか。
ここで、例をとって、ミクロとマクロの思考法を考えてみたいと思います。
まず、ミクロ的な思考とは、自分の身近なことや、周りを見渡してみて、一人の人の視点や幸せなど人間の「本質的な意味から考えてみること（微視的な思考）。
一方で、
マクロ的な思考とは、社会全体、グローバルな視点で、問題を考えたり、仕組み、機能、論理などを一般化してみることこと（巨視的な思考）。
それでは、具体的なお題で、マクロ、ミクロ思考をしてみていきたいと思います。
お題は、”出生率を上げるためにはどのような政策をとっていくことが有効でしょうか” にします。
ミクロ的思考
– 自分の世代と親世代で兄弟が減っているのは何故だろう?
– 自分の身の周りで、結婚していない人は増えているか？増えていた場合、何故結婚しない人が増えている？
– 自分が子供だった時と、自分が親になって、子育ての環境や支援など変わったことは何だろうか？
マクロ的思考
– 出生率を上げるために国がとっている政策は？その効果は？
– 日本以外、先進国の出生率は？他の国から学べる効果的な政策はあるか？
– 出生率と経済との関連性や相関性は？
如何でしょうか。物事に対して、森と木の両方をみることは大切だと良く言われます。また、ビジネスの世界でも、戦略と、戦略を実践するための戦術を持つことも必要不可欠となってきます。
私の場合、社会人になって、解決策を提示するプレゼンの場を通して、このマクロとミクロの思考法が鍛えられたと思っています。学生の時から、この思考法を鍛えられたら最高ですね。

Today, I’d like to share you some essence from an article entitled “ Incredible ability in thinking possessed by those geniuses who entered the one of the most prestigious university; Tokyo University straight from high school” from Toyo Keizai Online Magazine.
Those top few % who entered the Tokyo University purely by high school academic record must not only have the ability to get high score in the school exam, but also have the ability in thinking and applying them into practical use. What’s more significant is the ability one can present their own thoughts, solutions and suggestions in any given topics and issues. To do that, it seems essential to train your thought process whenever it can.
What kind of training would be effective to develop your ability in thinking?
Let’s take some example to look into the micro thinking and macro thinking.
First, the thinking in the micro perspective starts from you or around yourself, focusing on individual perspective, or individual happiness and think from basic principal and meaning.
On the other hand, the thinking in the macro perspective should come from more broader area such as society as a whole, or even global perspective, and generalize systems, functions and theories through large scale.
Now let’s take some example to practice micro/macro way of thinking.
Topic is “what policy would be effective in order to increase the fertility rate”?
Micro thinking
– Why the number of sibling declined from the parent generation to my generation?
– Have we seen more people around who do not marry? If so, why do more people decide not to marry?
– What would be the difference such as child rearing environment or support from when I was kid to when I become the parent?
Macro thinking
– What policy the government have been taken to increase the fertility rate? What result?
– What does the other developed nation’s fertility rate look like? Anything we can learn from them?
– Are there any correlation between the fertility rate and economic situation?
Is that helpful? It is often said that it is important to see both the woods and trees, not only one of them.
In the business world, it is essential to develop the strategy and also tactics to support those strategies.
If I can speak for myself, I am fortunate to develop my skills to thinking in both micro and macro way throughout the number of business presentation, but I wish I could train them when I was even a student.
