学びこそ最高のエンターテイメント。
何かを学びたいと思った時、昔と違って、今は直ぐにネットで調べて、無料のオンライン学習ポータルや、YouTubeなどの動画で気軽に学ぶことのできる時代になりました。
英語の勉強なども、ネイティブの英語に触れるには、FEN(在日米軍向けのラジオ放送）を聴くくらいしか選択肢がなかった頃と違い、今では無数とも言えるくらいの学習の手段があります。
一方で、世の中の変化のスピードも時代とともに目まぐるしく速くなっているので、常に新しいことを学んだり、知識もアップデートしていかないと置いてきぼりになってしまうのではないかという不安感もあります。
私自身は、学校での勉強はやらされ感があり、どうしても本気で取り組むことができませんでしたが、社会人になってからの勉強は、全て自分の意思で始めたことなどで絶対に学びを止めないという気持ちで続けてくることができました。
そして、50歳を超えた今思うことは、勉強をすればするほど、新たに勉強したいこと、学びたいという気持ちが出てくるので、私たちの人生の目的は、一生をかけて学び続けて自分を成長させて、その学んだことで少しでも家族や社会に貢献することではないかということです。
私の尊敬する知の巨匠に、松岡正剛さんという方がいます。
ウィキペディアには、実業家、編集者、著述家と紹介されていましたが、2000年から、”千夜千冊” という書評サイトを始められ、あらゆるジャンルの本を紹介されています。私自身、読みたい本を選ぶ際に参考にさせていただくのですが、松岡さんの膨大な知識量に深い洞察力、そして、世界を俯瞰して分かりやすく説明できる能力に感嘆せずにはいられません。
松岡さんの膨大な知識量は、世の中のありとあらゆることに興味を持たれ、もっと知りたい、真理を探求したいという好奇心から学び続けてこられたのだと推察します。
私も、残りの人生、まだまだ学べることはあると思っているので、学びこそ最大の娯楽と思って勉強を続けていきたいと思います。

Learning is the best entertainment.
Unlike in the past, nowadays, when you want to learn something, you can easily find it on the Internet and learn it through free online learning portals or videos on YouTube.
Unlike in the past, when the only way to learn English was to listen to FEN (radio broadcasts for U.S. military personnel in Japan), there are now countless ways to learn English.
On the other hand, the world is changing at a dizzying pace with the times, and I have a sense of anxiety that I will be left behind if I do not constantly learn new things and update my knowledge.
I myself felt that I was forced to study at school, and I could never really get into it, but I have been able to continue my studies since becoming a working adult with the feeling that I will never stop learning because I started everything on my own volition.
And now that I am over 50 years old, I think that the more I study, the more I want to study and learn new things, so I believe that the purpose of our life is to continue to learn and develop ourselves throughout our lives and contribute to our families and society as much as possible with what we have learned.
One of the masters of knowledge I respect is Seigo Matsuoka.
Wikipedia describes him as a businessman, editor, and author. In 2000, he started a book review site called “Thousand Nights, Thousand Books,” where he introduces books of all genres. I myself use the site as a reference when selecting books to read, and I cannot help but admire Mr. Matsuoka’s vast amount of knowledge, deep insight, and ability to explain the world from a bird’s eye view in an easy-to-understand manner.
I assume that Mr. Matsuoka’s vast amount of knowledge is due to his interest in all things in the world, his curiosity to know more and his desire to search for the truth.
I, too, believe that there is much more to learn for the rest of my life, and I would like to continue my studies as if learning is the greatest pastime.
社会人になってからの勉強は全て自分のための学び。勉強をすればするほど、新たに勉強したいことが出てくるので、私たちの人生の目的は、一生をかけて学び続けて自分を成長させて、その学んだことで少しでも家族や社会に貢献することではないかと思うこの頃です。
