(English)

Goals and objectives are necessary for a better life, but sometimes we are so focused on achieving our goals that we forget our original purpose.

Originally, a goal is a milestone or a transit point to achieve an objective, while the objective is the significance or meaning of why you are doing it.

For example, in my case, I have a goal to “acquire the highest level of English proficiency as a Japanese,” and in order to achieve this goal, I read aloud the Economist magazine every week. In order to achieve this goal, there are goals such as “read aloud the Economist every week” and “read at least three foreign books every month.

The important thing is to achieve the goal, and I believe that goals are constantly changing, but it often happens that we are too fixated on achieving the goal, and as a result, we are not getting any closer to the important destination.

That is why it is important to constantly check your goals, and I have a piece of paper on the wall of my room with my goals written on it so that I can look back at it every day. It’s equally important to review your goals, and I keep a journal every day to see if there is a better way to do it, and to record my reflections and good points.

Goal + Meaning = Purpose

In order to achieve our goals, it is essential to work hard every day, but I believe that the key to sustaining our efforts is how much significance and meaning we can give to our goals. In other words, how much passion can you put into that goal?
