(English)

I’ve never really paid attention to it before, but since I started blogging, I’ve developed a desire to be able to write sentences that are as clear and easy to understand as possible.

So, I’d like to share with you what I refer to in order to write clear sentences.

Keep a sentence short
Put the conclusion first
Keep the subject and predicate close together
Don’t use ambiguous expressions
Don’t use passive voice
Use punctuation in clear places
Use fewer conjunctions
Use more hiragana
Use katakana effectively
No awkward sentence endings

I have also noticed something in terms of easy-to-understand Japanese.

In the course of my work, I often have the opportunity to interpret from Japanese into English, and although I can somehow communicate in Japanese even if I ignore the above rules, when I try to interpret into English, I often find that my English does not turn out properly.

I think this is due to the fact that Japanese is euphemistic and ambiguous, unlike the linear and logical thinking of English. I feel that studying English is actually helpful in training my Japanese.
