When I was writing yesterday’s blog post (The Difficulty of Continuing), I remembered that I attended a day of tennis club practice in the spring of my freshman year in high school.

To be precise, I didn’t even last an hour, let alone a day. That day, my friend and I, who had entered the same high school together from junior high school, applied for a trial membership with the head of the hard tennis club.

As soon as we started, I couldn’t keep up with my friends from junior high school, and we tried our best to keep up with them, but we fell behind, and I remember I couldn’t even walk at the end.I remember being told by the head of the department that it was impossible for us to do it with our physical strength, and I remember despairing on the spot.

Looking back, I don’t think I had ever experienced such a clear setback before.

It is true that the high school I attended had a sports recommendation class, and many of the athletic teams were at the inter-high school level, so now that I think about it, I probably didn’t need to be so pessimistic about the fact that I couldn’t keep up with the older students.

Still, I remember being quite depressed and dragging myself down at the time.

We are all born with the belief that the world revolves around us.

Eventually, as we move up to school, high school, college, and then into the working world, we learn that we are not the main character in this world, but that it is filled with people who are better and brighter than us.In my case, a setback in my first year of high school when I tried out for a club led me to believe that I was a frog in a well, but instead, I think that is why I was able to learn the importance of working harder than others and continuing my efforts.

After living for half a century, I think that from now on, I will enjoy life to the fullest, as if I were the main character in this world, just like when I was a small child.
