Tim Cook, who has succeeded Steve Jobs and continues to lead Apple as CEO, has a speech at his Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduation ceremony that impressed me.
This is life’s biggest and most important question. When you work towards something greater than yourself, you find meaning, you find purpose. So the question I hope you will carry forward from here is: how will you serve humanity?
I found that my life got bigger when I stopped caring what other people thought about me. Stay focused on what really matters. There will be times when your resolve to serve humanity will be tested.
When you hear that “serve humanity,” you might not think that most people, including myself, are irrelevant to them , or such a big deal, but in his message I felt that human beings can work beyond their existence when they have an altruistic spirit.
In other words, rather than directing what you are doing or what you want to do inside yourself, having a desire to help someone helps you to grow.
