今から30年以上前、自分が大学生の時の話ですが、二玄社という出版社が出していた、”NAVI”という雑誌を愛読していました。
NAVIは当時の車好きの方なら誰でも知っている、車に関する月刊誌だったのですが、取り上げる車は、ほとんどが欧州車で、また、車とは関係のない、思想や哲学的な記事も多く掲載されていました。
当時の編集長の好みが思い切り反映されていて、今風に言うと、とてもクセの強い雑誌だったので好き嫌いがすごく分かれる雑誌だったと思います。
ところで、私は、この雑誌にえらく影響をうけまして、エンスー(エンスージアストの略）などの言葉を、この雑誌を通して知ることとなりました。
ちなみに、私自身はこのころ車を所有していなかったので、それまで国産車しか乗ったことのない父親を唆して、ローバースターリングやプジョー505などを買わせて、これで自分もエンスーの仲間入りだとご満悦に浸っていました。
あれから、30年以上経ち、今では古き良い思い出ですが、この時から培ったエンスー気質、もしくは、オタク気質と言い換えても良いかもしれませんが、今でも健在です。
残りの人生、さらにエンスー道、オタク道を極めていきたいと思います。

NAVI was a monthly magazine about cars, known to all car enthusiasts at that time, but most of the cars it covered were European cars, and it also contained many articles on ideology and philosophy that had nothing to do with cars.

By the way, this magazine had a great influence on me, and I came to know the word “enthusiast” through this magazine.
Incidentally, I didn’t own a car myself at that time, so I seduced my father, who had only ever driven domestic cars, into buying me a Rover Sterling and a Peugeot 505, and I was so pleased that I was now one of the enthusiasts.
It’s been more than 30 years since then, and now it’s just a good old memory, but the enthusiast temperament, or nerd temperament as I call it, that I developed from that time is still alive and well.
For the rest of my life, I would like to further master the path of the enthusiast and the path of the geek.
