時間が立つのは早いもので気がついたら、社会に出て30年という年月が過ぎていました。
小学校入学から大学卒業までの学生時代が16年になるので、その倍近くの時間を社会人として過ごしてきたことになります。
最初にお世話になったのは、外資系金融関係の会社で、ここでビジネスの基本を教わりました。また、夢であった海外生活を経験させてもらい大変感謝しています。
そして、今の会社に転職して10年近く経ちましたが、この10年間で会社は大きく業績を伸ばし、私が入社した時とは別の会社かと思うくらいの変化を経験させて頂きました。ちなみに私が入社した時の株価は一株18ドルでしたが、今は150ドルと8倍以上の値をつけています。
社会人としての私のキーワードを一言で表すとすると、それは英語ということになります。
英語を使えそうだから、仕事を通して英語を勉強できそうだからという理由で選んだ会社も、また、全て英語の面接（全部で6回くらいの面接をしました）を経て採用された今の会社も、英語を武器にできたからこそ今の私がいるということになります。
ということで、30年に渡る私の社会人の歴史は、そのまま英語学習の歴史になる訳ですが、英語という情熱の対象を持てたことが幸運だったことと、何よりも好きなことを仕事で使えたことが一番でした。
英語に関してはこれからも死ぬまで勉強を続けていきたいと思っていますので、天命が許せばさらに後30年英語に触れることができるかも知れません。
そして、去年から始めたギターと、再開したランニング、そしてこれから始める予定のサーフィンなどもできる限り長く、おじいちゃんと呼ばれても続けていければこんなに幸せな人生は無いと思っています。
ありきたりの言葉ではありますが、”好きこそ物の上手なれ” と ”継続は力なり” を座右の銘に残りの人生も楽しんでいきたいです。

Time flies, and before I knew it, 30 years had passed since I entered the workforce.
I spent 16 years as a student from elementary school to university graduation, which means that I have spent almost twice as much time as that as a member of society.
The first company I worked for was a foreign-affiliated financial company, where I was taught the basics of business. I am also very grateful for the opportunity to experience my dream of living abroad.
It has been almost 10 years since I moved to my current company, and in the past 10 years, the company has greatly increased its business performance, and I have experienced so many changes that I thought it was a different company from the one I joined. Incidentally, when I joined the company, the stock price was $18 per share, but now it is $150, more than eight times the value.
If I had to describe my key word as a working adult in one word, it would be English.
The company I chose because I thought I could use English and learn English through my work, and the company I am working for now, where I was hired after going through all the interviews in English (I had about 6 interviews in total), are all because I was able to use English as a weapon.
I was lucky to have English as my passion, and most importantly, I was able to use what I love in my work.
I would like to continue studying English until the day I die, so if fate permits, I may be able to stay in touch with the language for another 30 years.
Also, if I can continue to play guitar, which I started last year, run again, and surf, which I plan to start in the future, for as long as I can, even if I am called a grandpa, I will never be happier in my life.
I know it’s a cliché, but
I would like to enjoy the rest of my life with the words, “Love is the key to success” and “Continuity is power” as my motto.
社会に出て気がついたらもう30年も経っていました。本当の勉強は社会に出てから始まるとはよく言ったものですが、確かに一つの正解を求める学校の勉強とは違い、試行錯誤と紆余曲折をしながら多くの失敗をして、そこから学ばせてもらいました。これからもさらに新しいことにどんどん挑戦して、失敗を楽しんでいきたいと思います。
