It’s been a little over a year and 10 months since I started taking online acoustic guitar lessons as an apprentice of 50.

Then, one and a half years ago, a bad friend of mine heard that I had started playing guitar and invited me to join his band as a vocalist.

I am grateful for the stimulation that the new hobby of music has given me in my daily life, and most of all, for being able to enjoy a second youth with my best friend from elementary school, whom I have known for over 45 years, is truly invaluable.

However, during our last studio practice in July, I received a report that my friend in charge of keyboards had received a job offer from his company and was going to be transferred to Bangkok, Thailand. I was surprised that he would be transferred at his age, but I guess it is inevitable since he has been stationed overseas many times, starting in New York, then Sydney, and finally Delhi.

So, the search began for a candidate to fill the keyboardist’s vacancy. Of course, the condition was that they be classmates from the same school.

Next Saturday, we will have our first studio practice in about two months, and we decided to invite the candidate to a drinking party afterwards to woo him.

As for me, I have finally managed to play the guitar while singing. If it were not for the existence of the band, it is highly likely that I would have failed on the guitar as well.

The Yokohama Marathon, which I plan to run in October, was also invited by one of the band members. He is someone who devoted himself to track and field until college, so it is an honor to be able to run with him.

Also, other than myself, the other members of the band have been involved in band activities as students or have been in several other bands, so they are more experienced than I am, but they are willing to match me because they have been rotten friends since elementary school.

Now, I’m going to practice my guitar for next week’s band practice.
