(English)

Life is a cycle of ups and downs.

Having lived for more than 50 years, this is something that I have come to believe deeply.

And I realized that the important thing in life depends on how much you can foolishly tackle the preparation period (the period to hop, as in hop-step-jump) to stay afloat.

Especially when things aren’t going well, when performance doesn’t improve as expected, or when difficulties or bad luck strike, it can be difficult to look forward, and we may stop or give up on the efforts we have been making.

Nevertheless, I have come to strongly believe that a person’s destiny beyond that point depends on whether or not he or she is able to continue the effort, even if it is slowly or with a break.

In other words, is it possible to resist the temptation to be lazy and to play and to keep up that effort steadily where no one is watching?

So what should we do to continue our efforts?

In my own experience, the most effective way is to imagine the person you want to be, and to enhance your self-image to the point where you think it would be strange if you didn’t make the effort. And if you can get your self-image down to the point where you feel uncomfortable when you don’t make the effort, then you can continue to do it, no matter what the results are.

I know I sound like a big deal, but it’s only after I turned 50 that I started to feel less lost, anxious, and confused. I want to live the rest of my life carefully. I have come to realize that anyone can change their life at any time, as long as they have the determination to do so.
