先週の土曜に同級生で組んだ親父バンドのスタジオ練習がありました。
私はボーカル兼アコギを担当させてもらっているのですが、アコースティックギターにピックアップを取り付けので、初めてアンプに接続してスピーカーから音を出してみました。
これがなかなかのものでなんかギターの腕前が一段階上がったような気がしてボーカルもいつもより調子よく歌えた気がします。
アコギを習い始めてもうすぐ2年が経ちますが、ようやくバンドのメンバーと音を合わせられるくらいのレベルになってきたので演奏していても歌っていても楽しくて本当にメンバーには感謝しかありません。
そもそも私以外のメンバーは皆経験者だったので最初は足を引っ張ってばかりで、みんな我慢して練習に付き合ってくれていたのだと思います。
来年の春くらいには、同級生を招いてのライブ演奏を開催を目論んでいるので、毎日必ずギターに触れてとにかく練習だけは頑張っていきたいと思います。
この年になって新しいことにチャレンジできるのって本当に嬉しくてしょうがありません。
ところでギターを始めるに当たり最初に目標にしたことは、将来娘の結婚式で新婦の父としてギターで弾き語りをすることでした。
娘が誰かに取られてしまうと思うと自暴自棄になってしまうのは目に見えているので、男として自分の方がかっこいいと見せつけるために、かっこよくギターで弾き語ってやるという不純な動機によりギターを始めたのでした。
と言ってもまだ娘が結婚するのはだいぶ先だと思うので、それまでにはもっともっとギターを上手くなって参列者の皆さんからアンコールをもらえるくらいの腕前にはなりたいと本気で思っている父でした。

Last Saturday I had a studio practice with my dad’s band, which is made up of my classmates.
I am the vocalist and acoustic guitarist, and I installed pickups on my acoustic guitar so that I could connect it to an amp and play through the speakers for the first time.
It was a great experience, and I felt like my guitar skills had improved a notch, and I could sing better than usual.
It has been almost two years since I started learning to play the acoustic guitar, and now that I am finally at a level where I can play in tune with the other band members, I really enjoy playing and singing with them.
I think that everyone had to put up with me and go along with my practice at first because I was dragging my feet since everyone else in the band had experience.
I am planning to invite my classmates to a live performance in the spring of next year, so I will make sure to touch the guitar every day and just keep practicing.
I am really happy to be able to challenge something new at my age.
By the way, my first goal when I started playing the guitar was to play at my daughter’s wedding as the father of the bride.
I knew that I would become desperate if I thought my daughter would be taken away by someone else, so I started playing the guitar with the impure motive of showing that I was cooler as a man than she was by playing the guitar in a cool way.
However, I think it will be a long time before my daughter gets married, so I really want to get better at playing the guitar and be good enough to get encores from the attendees.
娘が将来結婚するときに新婦の父としてギターで弾き語りの余興をしたいと夢見て始めたギターですが、中学生の同級生から声をかけてもらい組んだ親父バンドで演奏するのが楽しくて今では毎日練習しています。もっともっと上手くなりたい。
