Positive Psycology

I would like to introduce five subjective well-being areas model (PERMA) proposed by Martin Seligma, the authority of positive psychology.

First, the explanation about the PERMA model.

Everyone seems to be in the pursuit of happiness nowadays. There are many ways to reach happiness, though including training your mind for happiness, spending money on others to promote happiness, and following the code to well-being and happiness.
Most of us think we know what happiness is, but what are the actual elements that promote happiness within each of us? Seligman’s theoretical model of happiness (PERMA) helps us understand these elements and what we can do to maximize each element to reach a life full of happiness.Seligman’s PERMA Model

P – Positive Emotion
E – Engagement
R – Relationships
M – Meaning
A – Accomplishments

Now the definition of each of the five areas of PERMA.

P – Positive Emotion

Being able to focus on positive emotions means that we can be optimistic about the present and the future, including the past. A positive look at life can positively influence your relationships and workplaces to help you be more creative and seize opportunities. Everyone has highs and lows in life, but focusing on lows increases the chances of having a heart disease such as depression, but focusing on highs and focusing on the positive part will help. We know that there are various pluses. In addition, the joy of stimulating intellectual curiosity and creativity is directly linked to happiness. For example, a child’s satisfaction when they focus on completing a complex Lego car. The more positive emotions of this kind, the more you develop the ability to work hard in the face of difficulties.

R – Relationships

Relationships and social connections are the most important aspects of life. It is important to build a good relationship with your parents and your children, colleagues and friends to share your love and joy. They need their help, especially in difficult times. According to one study, when a person is placed in a state of being isolated from their surroundings, the function of controlling pain in the brain is activated. From a scientific point of view, isolation is the worst choice for animal survival.

M – Meaning

In order to live a happy and fulfilling life, it is important to have the purpose and significance that have been born on this earth. It is more important for happiness to feel the true meaning of one’s life than to pursue pleasure and material wealth. Understanding the great impact of your work and why you chose to pursue that path can help you enjoy your work tasks and be more satisfied.

A – Accomplishments

Having goals and aspirations in life helps us achieve things and feel a sense of accomplishment. You can give a certain degree of satisfaction by taking actions and efforts toward the goal, and when you actually achieve it, you can feel greater satisfaction, pride, and satisfaction.
