今年の4月に今の会社に転職して、10周年のメモリアルイヤーを迎えることができました。
新卒で入った会社で20年近く働いていたので、自分にとって転職は本当に一大決心でした。
転職を決めた一番の動機は、安定よりも自分の新しい可能性に賭けてみたいという気持ちがどんどん大きくなってきたときに、タイミング良く時価総額世界一の企業からお話をいただき、ここで断ったら二度とこんなチャンスは巡ってこないと思ったからです。
実際に転職をしてみると、会社はまさに飛ぶ鳥を落とす勢いで成長していたので常に従業員を採用している状態でした。そのため、自分も外から入ってきた他所者というような扱いを受けることもなくすぐに溶け込むことができました。
もう一つ自分が恵まれていたのは、会社の人たちが本当に良い人ばかりでいつも助けてもらったことです。これは本当に意外でした。前職で何十もの外資系クライアントのアカウントマネージメントの経験を通して誰もが知っている外資系の会社の社風を観察する機会がありました。
金融、コンサル、製薬、IT、メーカー系など日本にある外資系の多くの企業をクライアントとしてサービスしていましたが、その付き合いの中から垣間見える職場環境は、スタッフ間の足の引っ張り合いは普通で、また部署間でも大きなヒエラルキーがありとても働きやすい職場には見えませんでした。
そうした経験から、自分も転職する時はある程度覚悟していたのです。
今にして思うと、今働いている会社は業績がずっと右上がりで、人員削減や予算カットなどの外資系の会社によくあるリエンジニアリングが全くなかったことが、従業員通しがギスギスすることなく良好な関係を維持することができた理由の一つなのかもしれません。
最後に外資系への転職を考えている方にアドバイスをさせていただけるとしたら、外資系で働く魅力は何といってもやる気と実力があればどんどん仕事を任せてもらえること。あとは一つの専門性やスキルを極めるのであれば外資系はやはりお勧めです。
他の外資系は職場の人間関係が良くないというような書き方をしてしまいましたが、あくまでも私個人の感想なので、転職をする際はできるだけ多くの生の情報を集めることをお勧めします。

This past April, I changed jobs with my current company and celebrated my 10th anniversary in this memorable year.
I had worked for the company I joined as a new graduate for almost 20 years, so changing jobs was truly a major decision for me.
The main reason I decided to change jobs was because I was getting more and more interested in taking a chance on new possibilities rather than stability, and when I received an offer from the world’s largest company by market capitalization, I knew that if I turned it down, I would never get another chance like this.
When I actually changed jobs, the company was growing at such a rapid pace that it was constantly hiring employees. Because of this, I was not treated like a stranger coming in from the outside, and I was able to fit in right away.
Another thing I was blessed with was that the people at the company were really nice and always helped me out. This was really surprising. I had the opportunity to observe the corporate culture of a foreign company that everyone knows about through my experience in account management for dozens of foreign clients at my previous job.

It did not seem to be a very comfortable place to work.
Because of this experience, I was prepared for this to some extent when I changed jobs.
Now that I think about it, the company I work for now has always been on the right track, and there has been none of the re-engineering that is common in foreign-affiliated companies, such as personnel cuts and budget cuts, which may be one reason why I have been able to maintain good relationships with employees without any tension.
Finally, if I could give some advice to those who are considering changing jobs to a foreign company, I would say that the most attractive thing about working for a foreign company is that if you are motivated and have ability, you will be entrusted with more and more work. Also, if you want to master one specialty or skill, I would recommend working for a foreign-affiliated company.
I may have written that relationships in the workplace are not good at other foreign-affiliated companies, but this is just my personal opinion, so I recommend that you gather as much firsthand information as possible when changing jobs.
