(English)
Commuting to work every morning on a crowded train, work hard and late at the office, and when getting home, all I want to do is eat dinner and go to bed. Such a life continues for several decades.
Many baby boomers who were born right after the Second World War have lived such a life.Since this generation experienced the high economic growth after the war and the bubble economy, they may have been able to endure working like company animals because they felt that they were getting richer.
On the other hand, the generation that entered the workforce after the end of the bubble economy may have received little benefit from being a salaried person, as the whole of Japan is surrounded by a sense of stagnation and the system of lifetime employment and seniority system has collapsed.
Looking at it from a different perspective, I think it can be said that people now have more choices in their careers and lifestyles, such as graduating from working for an organization called a company and starting their own business, or working for a company but having a second job, or studying to improve their skills.
As for myself, both the company I joined as a new graduate and the company I changed to afterwards are foreign-affiliated companies in the U.S. I have been a company employee for 30 years now, if you notice.
In the first article I wrote after starting this blog (Becoming a Master of Happiness), I wrote about what I want to accomplish in my life.
Self-actualization and achievement
Connection and gratitude to others
Independence and Self-identity
Positivity and optimism
I wrote, “I want to achieve the following goals in my life.
I’m currently in a preparation period, polishing my skills so that I can make a living even after I become independent. I hope to make a little progress every day.
