I am taking an 11-day summer vacation from last Thursday to this weekend.

As a foreign-affiliated company, we don’t have a set summer vacation, but I try to apply for annual leave during the Obon holidays to accommodate my family.

It’s been about 15 years since I’ve had 11 consecutive days off, since I used to take two weeks off once a year when I was working overseas and returning home.

It has become much easier to take time off than it used to be, and the working hours may be getting shorter as well, with some companies now adopting a three-day workweek.

Since I started working from home at Corona Perfection, I have been able to use my commuting time for work, so I am able to finish earlier. This means that I can walk my dog Charlie after work, have dinner with my family afterwards, and also have time to write my blog. It’s hard to believe that for years I used to come home from work, have a late dinner by myself, and then go to bed.

Habits can be scary, but if you are prepared for them, you may find that there are many things in your life that you can decide for yourself.

Just the day before yesterday, I lit a bonfire to send my father off, but on the day before he passed away, I heard my father, my brother, and my offspring talking deliriously about why they were here, and I remembered how happy I was to have my beloved pick me up at the end of my life.

And I was convinced that the most important thing for me to look back on my life at the end was to spend as much time as possible with my beloved, even if it was just for a second.
