昨年末から読み始めた英の作家ジェフリー・アーチャー氏の小説 “クリフトン年代記”のシリーズ7冊目で最終巻となる “This was a Man” を読み終わりました。
1冊あたり500ページくらいのボリュームになるので7冊合計で3,500ページくらいとなる英文を約1ヶ月で読み終えることができたので、1日平均115ページを読み進めた計算となります。
これだけ集中して英文リーディングをこなしたのは初めてかもしれません。
去年挑戦した英書52冊マラソンは、結果的に32冊で終わったので、今年も挑戦することにしましたが、年始めにジェフリー・アーチャー氏の作品、それも7冊のシリーズ本を選ぶことができたのは大正解でした。
とにかくストーリーが面白いのでどんどんページが進み、まるで自分の英語力が一気に上がったような錯覚さえしています。
この勢いでどんどん英書を読み進んでいきたいので、早速次の英書に、ヘミングウェイの ” 誰がために鐘は鳴る (For Whom the Bell Tolls)” をキンドルでダウンロードしました。
他にもすでに15冊ほどこれから読む本をピックアップしたので、今年こそは絶対に週1ペースで、年間52冊を読破したいと思います。
そして今年1年で英書を52冊読み切ることができたら、来年はYouTubeに、自分の英語のチャンネルを立ちげられたらいいなと漠然と考えています。
今年はとにかく英語をいっぱいインプットとして、来年から、YouTubeやSNSでどんどん英語を使ったアウトプットをする。
そんなことを考えていたらワクワクしてきました。
ワクワクした気持ちを、実際に具現化できるように、今はとにかく頑張って英語をインプットしていくぞ。

I have finished reading “This was a Man,” the seventh and final book in the series of the novel “The Clifton Chronicles” by English author Jeffrey Archer, which I started reading at the end of last year.
Each book is about 500 pages, so I was able to finish the seven books in about one month, which is about 3,500 pages in total, which means that I read an average of 115 pages a day.
This is probably the first time that I have concentrated so much on reading English texts.
Last year I tried the 52-book marathon and ended up with 32 books, so I decided to try it again this year. The stories are so interesting that I can’t stop reading, and I even feel as if my English ability has improved.
I want to continue reading English books at this pace, so I immediately downloaded Hemingway’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” for my Kindle.
I have already picked up about 15 other books that I will read in the future, and I definitely want to read 52 books a year this year, at a pace of one a week.
And if I can read 52 English books this year, I’m vaguely thinking that next year I’d like to start my own English channel on YouTube.
I would like to input a lot of English this year, and from next year, I will output more and more English on YouTube and social networking sites. Thinking about this makes me feel excited.
I’m going to do my best to input English now so that I can actually materialize my excitement.
週に1冊、年間で52冊を読むことを目標とした英書52冊マラソンですが、今月6冊を読むことができました。7冊目に選んだ本は、ヘミングウェイの “誰がために鐘は鳴る” です。このペースでどんどん英書を読みまくっていきます。
