更に英語力を高めるためには、英単語や英語の発音を強化するだけでなく、英語で思考する力をつけることが大切だと思っています。と言うことで、今日は、セルフディベートに関して紹介してみたいと思います。
- 何かトピックを決めます（例：Do you support that we should abandon a nuclear power generation and promote renewal energy such as solar and wind power generation?)
- 選んだトピックに関して、肯定側、否定側のそれぞれの理由と反論を組み立てます
- 1st Affirmative (1分） 定義を行い肯定する理由1を述べる
- 1st Opposition (1分） 肯定する理由1へ反論し、否定する理由1を述べる
- 2nd Affirmative (1分） 否定する理由1への反論、 肯定する理由1の再構築、 肯定する理由2を述べる
- 2nd Opposition(1分） 肯定する理由1,2への反論 否定する理由1への再構築 否定する理由2を述べる
- Last Affirmative(1分） 否定する理由2へ反論して、Affirmativetチームが勝っている 理由をまとめる
- Last Opposition(1分） Oppositionチームが勝っている理由をまとめる
それでは、上のトピック例を使って、実際にセルフディベートをしてみます。
ポイントはあくまでも限られた時間の中で如何に早く議論を組み立てるかがポイントとなります。思考能力、プレゼン能力の改善および、英語で行えば英語のブラッシュアップにもなります。
1st Affirmative (1分） 定義を行い肯定する理由1を述べる
（例）Yes, we must not resume operations of nuclear power plant and make sure we do not cause another Fukushima Dai-ichi power plant disasters. We proves ourselves that we could live without nuclear power plant in last several years in terms of electricity supply over demand. Hence, Nuclear power plant only harms us and renewal energy give us safer environment.
1st Opposition (1分） 肯定する理由1へ反論し、否定する理由1を述べる
（例）Halt of nuclear power plant operation over the last several years have been imposing heavy financial burden on public as electricity bill hike , not only that, but also causing people spent less money on another economic activity such as food and goods. Until we become to have capacity for renewal energy to provide lower bills than nuclear power bills, we should not abandon a nuclear power generation, but use an energy mix of nuclear power and renewal energy such as solar and wind power.
2nd Affirmative (1分） 否定する理由1への反論、 肯定する理由1の再構築、 肯定する理由2を述べる
（例）We should not de-prioritize human’s life over an economic growth. Safety must come first regardless of what and cost of renewal energy must get reduced and soon match off the cost of nuclear power generation by developing technology. We can also expect to boost our economy by promoting new business enterprise in areas such as solar power, wind power, geothermal power and or any kind of alternative energy sources and we no longer need a old fashioned and government protected business enterprise like TEPCO.
2nd Opposition(1分） 肯定する理由1,2への反論 否定する理由1への再構築 否定する理由2を述べる
（例）There can not be denied that nuclear power is the most efficient and cheapest energy source if used correctly. Abandoning them because of one incident is not logical and wise decision we made. Speaking of safety, there is no evidence that renewable energy guarantees safety. One example is Japan becomes heavy dependent on coal fired energy purchased from overseas. And coal mining is well known as one of the highest death rate it marked.
Last Affirmative(1分） 否定する理由2へ反論して、肯定側チームが勝っている理由をまとめる
（例）I believe that this is a matter of fact whether you take fish today or you learn how to fish tomorrow. Resuming nuclear power operation sounds like a low hanging fruits you can pick and however, abandoning nuclear power and choosing renewable energy will lead us to correct path for our future even though we’re facing some challenges at the beginning in terms of cost and convenience.
Last Opposition(1分） 否定側チームが勝っている理由をまとめる
（例）Let’s look at reality. How many countries made decision to abandon nuclear power generation. Only Germany and they don’t look successful. Only option we should take and makes them sustainable is that we use nuclear power generation while at the same time we increase usage of renewal energy. Government has already committed that they adopt more strict safety measures to allow the nuclear power generator to resume the operation and also promote new ventures to enter renewable energy business. Energy mix is the best option. That’s obvious.
