(English)

For the past few days, I have been accompanying my daughter, now in her second year of junior high school, to a major cram school to listen to an explanation.

As a parent, I am happy that she has decided to attend the cram school, but I myself was never interested in any subject other than English and disliked studying when I was in junior high school, so it is disappointing that I do not have much advice to offer my daughter.

In my case, I have continued to study English for more than 30 years after graduating from school and even after becoming a working adult because I love the language, not the subject as a school, and it is now my passion, so perhaps I don’t even feel like studying it in the first place.

By the way, going back to my junior high school days, I remember that I received a grade of 1 or 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 when I never listened to the class seriously and never turned in any work in art class. Also, my dislike of my homeroom music teacher seemed to show in my classroom attitude, and I think my grades in music were also quite poor.

Looking back on it now, I think I lost a lot of money on the internal examinations, but I try to convince myself that this is part of my personality and that my character of not doing anything I don’t like and instead doing everything I want to do has come from that time.

Still, my daughter has her own life, and I believe it is my duty as a parent to broaden her life choices, so I will continue to support her by pushing her motivation switch.

However, when I told her that I would teach her English, she said that she does not want to be taught only by her father.

If that is the case, I just recently purchased a math text written in English, so I am thinking that I can study with her and share the struggle as a student with my daughter rather than as a teacher.

Good luck.
